I Hate Your Scene

With more and more shitty acoustic side projects on the rise and even worse metalcore bands, what is to be said about the WLB scene. I seriously think they can't get any worse, and then they continue to prove me wrong. From the completely unoriginal (and unnerving) shows like PopFest to the stale quasi-fest Metalocalypse, one wonders if the WLB powers that be really enjoy this bullshit they serve to the community. They pretty much encourage mediocrity. I had the complete displeasure of attending the Four Year Strong that was held about a month or so ago, and as I gazed into the crowd of the individuals who pretty much keep these shows running with their lunch money, I said to myself,"what the hell".

Now I know some people will say,"hey, you used to like some of that music and even played in a band like so".
*cough* This Is Colossus *cough*
This is where I reply with the notion yes I played in that terrible band and Korn used to be my favorite band in 6th grade. Its called growing up people. I have no regrets about my past but I do look back and treat myself with several (actually tons) of good laughs. If everyone would take a minute to think of their past they will probably do the same.

This is where I come back to the point. If everyone else can grow up and move forward, why can't Won't Look Back Booking (ex-BOTM). Back On The Map Booking was a great asset to Memphis and delivered alot of good shows of various genres, but ever since the break, there has been nothing but 3rd rate bullshit offered from WLB. Artistic diversity is not preached one bit. Instead everything is ended with a breakdown.

Take a trip to the WLB myspace and have a look at their news box and you will see why I felt the urge to write this. I would post their flyers but I'd rather not open up a door for someone to possibly go to one of their shows. I will say though Saves The Day is coming and while I want to go see the amazing New Jersey band, I am currently contemplating my attendance due to my utter disgust for the WLB scene.
